The water was as calm as it would be on a midsummer's night not a ripple to be seen so I tied on a few shiners tossed them out and grabbed the other rod and tied on a top water jitterbug. I rare back and let it fly. Only thing is, it hit a branch and whizzed of in the other direction and landed smack dab in the middle of a downed tree. It was hooked to a branch pretty good. I started tugging to free it, and then I was pulling like crazy just to get the line to break. I gave up on trying to retrieve it. I gave a pull and pop it sprang free and bounced across the water like I was skipping rocks. As soon as it came to rest, I saw this thunderous crash and this giant blasted through the water and grabbed on to the jitterbug. It took a right as soon as it realized it was hooked. He headed out to deeper water much like another big one had earlier, only this one leapt from the water on its way out and was pulling my drag out so fast I thought he would take my whole spool. I gave him a tug and got him turned around. He never made a second run but he must have jumped from the water 15 times before I got him to the shore. When I picked him up I realized he was larger than the big one from earlier in the morning. I got him on the scale and he weighed in at 9 pounds 6 ounces.
