As an added safety measure, the outdoor range now has two range flags. If the green flag is out, this indicates that it's OK to shoot (the range is hot) and the red flag indicates that there are shooters downrange and no firing or even handling of weapons is allowed (the range is cold). These flags were added mostly for shooters who are using the 300 yard range. While downrange, the terrain beyond the 200 yard berm makes a shooter downrange impossible to see. If you arrive at the outdoor range and the Red flag is hanging indicating a cold range, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THERE IS NO ONE DOWN RANGE BEFORE FIRING!
