Looking for an activity the entire family can participate in even through the winter months?

Welcome to the National/Massachusetts Field Archery Association's indoor archery competition.

Who can shoot at NFAA/MFAA matches?

Any NFAA member can compete at shooting matches. There are several catagories of archers based on your age. Children up to and including age 11 have a catagory of their own called Cub division which shoots at a reduced range of 10 yards. From age 12 to 14, is the Youth division, from 15 to 17 is the Young Adult division, and 18 and over is the Adult division. In addition, there is also a Senior division for age 60 and up. All divisions other than Cub shoot at a distance of 20 yards.

What type of bow do I need to compete?

The short answer is, What kind of bow do you have? There are so many different equipment catagories that whatever type of bow you have, there is going to be a catagory that you will be able to shoot in. Everything from longbows and recurves to compounds with all the accessories you can think of.

What happens at an NFAA indoor shoot?

Each archer registers and pays the required registration fee which is normally $7 for NFAA members and $6 for Senior and Cub divisions. You will then be shooting a total of 60 shots, five shots at a time, at paper targets. The center of the tagrets are worth 5 points for a possible maximum score of 300 points. Each shooter has 4 minutes to shoot each of their 5 shot groups.

I'm interested, but how do I get more information?

If you think you'd like to try an actual match, the NFAA/MFAA would be happy to allow you to shoot as a guest, which only costs $1 more for registration, but allows you to see what it's like before you join the NFAA/MFAA.
